Goodbye to the navigator's nose station
The Tu-134B is the second series that drops the glazed nose. The radar moves to the nose radome and the navigator's glazed station disappears, so the flight deck is rearranged and the aircraft adopts a conventional nose. Seating is set at 80 passengers.
The belly bulge
Some Tu-134Bs were fitted with long-range fuel tanks under the fuselage, easily recognisable as a sizeable bulge on the belly. It is the external feature that tells these aircraft apart from the rest of the B series.
B-series sub-versions
The documented B-series sub-versions are the Tu-134B-1; the Tu-134B-2 project — and its Tu-134B-2-3 derivative — for 100 seats with D-30 Series 2 and Series 3 engines; the Tu-134B-3 with D-30 Series 3 engines, to which the Spanish Wikipedia attributes 96 seats; the Tu-134BV, adapted to space shuttle programme work; and the Tu-134M, a projected modernisation with Progress D-436T1-134 engines.
