Short piece on the origin and career of the B-25 Mitchell. It recalls that North American started from the NA-40, unveiled in 1938, and the NA-62 a year later, and that the stability problems found in testing were fixed with the aircraft's characteristic gull wing; by late 1941 more than a hundred units were already in service.

It covers the 1942 Doolittle Raid, with sixteen B-25s taking off from a carrier against Tokyo, and its use in Europe, North Africa, the Soviet Union and the Pacific, where the H and J versions, with a dozen machine guns and a 75 mm cannon, attacked convoys and coastal defenses.

Close to 10,000 units were built. After the war it served in countries such as Canada, Australia, the Netherlands and Brazil, some until the 1960s.
