The NA-40 was North American Aviation's twin-engine medium bomber prototype submitted to the USAAC in 1939. After its first flight it was modified as the NA-40B with more powerful engines and a widened fuselage; the sole example was lost in a crash on 11 April 1939, but its design led directly to the NA-62/B-25.
