Planned two-seat version with the same combat capabilities as the single-seater, intended mainly for training. It was cancelled in 1996 to contain development costs and none was built.

History
The engineering and manufacturing development contract originally ordered seven single-seat F-22As and two two-seat F-22Bs. The two-seater was to retain the same combat capability as the single-seater and serve mainly for crew training. In 1996 the decision to cut development spending killed the version: the two orders were converted into single-seaters and no F-22B was ever built. The consequence carried through the whole life of the programme, since Raptor pilots go straight from the simulator to the single-seater without a dual-control airframe of the same type.
