The batch the war's end cut short
The C-54G repeats the C-54E with a different version of the R-2000 engine. 400 were ordered but only 162 completed: the rest were cancelled at the end of the Second World War. It is the version the Skymaster's published military specifications describe.
Its figures, in C-54G-DO configuration: 28.6 m long, 35.8 m in span, 8.4 m high, 17,658 kg empty, 33,112 kg maximum take-off weight, 443 km/h top speed at 20,000 ft, 306 km/h cruise at 10,000 ft, a 6,797 m ceiling and 6,437 km of range with a 4,000 lb payload; it carries 50 troops or 32,500 lb of cargo with a crew of four, and holds 2,868 US gallons of fuel normally or 3,592 with the auxiliary load. From it come the SC-54G air-sea rescue conversions — HC-54G from 1962 — the VC-54G VIP and staff transports and the JC-54G test aircraft.
