The 247 goes to war
The 247 stayed in airline service until the Second World War. When the United States entered the conflict, several aircraft were impressed and converted into military transports and trainers under the C-73 designation. The material documents twenty-seven aircraft covered by that designation.
This was not new construction but the absorption of existing civil airframes, which is why the C-73 shares the configuration of the 247D it came from in full.
