History
A 1900 inside the C-12 family
The US armed forces designate military King Airs C-12 Huron, and the C-12J is the branch of that family corresponding to the Beechcraft 1900C. The designation covers the six aircraft Raytheon built specifically for military use — the UD series — and other 1900Cs taken onto the inventory later.
Their duties have varied. One C-12J serves with the 586th Flight Test Squadron at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, for GPS jamming trials; three more fly with the 459th Airlift Squadron at Yokota Air Base in Japan. The US Army operates both C-12Js and 1900Ds alongside the rest of its C-12 fleet.
Beyond the United States
The 1900 also has a broad military career under other national designations: it has served with the air forces of Algeria, Egypt, Myanmar, South Sudan, Switzerland, Taiwan and Zambia, with the Colombian National Police and with the US Department of State, almost always on personnel transport and liaison work.
