What it covers

Tour of the cabin of Emirates' first Airbus A350, unveiled at an event in Dubai, from business class to economy, with stops at a lavatory and the galley. The tour is guided by Adel Rida, the airline's chief operations officer, and ends with an interview with its president, Tim Clark.

Details shown

The business class seats convert into a flat bed, with individual air vents aimed at the passenger, wood finishes and a central divider controlled by each occupant; they have no doors and follow the line of the A380 business class and the refurbished 777s. The entertainment system offers 4K video, up to 6,500 channels and more than 40 languages. Premium economy occupies three rows with 21 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration and white leather upholstery; economy uses light blue. The lavatory has a stone-look floor and a larger washbasin, and the galley includes a central table and a door that covers the air vent.

Context

It is the first of 65 A350s ordered. Edinburgh would be the first destination, from January, followed by Ahmedabad, Bahrain, Kuwait, Mumbai, Colombo, Lyon and Bologna. Clark explains that Emirates originally signed for 75 aircraft, withdrew over weight issues and came back around 2007-2008. He adds that he will order the A350-1000 once its engine meets the region's demands, that this 312-seat aircraft will not have a first class, and that the airline has designed its own interiors since 1987, with bright cabins and details inspired by the Mercedes S-Class.
