Formidable China blasts 53rd orbital launch atop Long March 4C
Video from the channel PointOrView about Long March 4C, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 2:49. Language: English. Video type: Launch.
A Long March 4C lifted off from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center carrying the Ziyuan-1 02E Earth observation satellite and, as a shared payload, an amateur radio satellite.
The video shows the liftoff and then reviews the launcher. It is a three-stage rocket derived from the Long March 4B and can place 4,200 kg into low Earth orbit, 2,600 kg into sun-synchronous orbit and 1,500 kg into geostationary transfer orbit. The first stage, with four YF-21C engines, produces 2,960 kN of thrust. The second stage uses one YF-24C engine and the third, two YF-40A engines.
The Chinese space agency declared the launch a success. It was China's 53rd orbital launch of the year.
