The Skyraider joins the Royal Navy as an early-warning aircraft
July 7, 1952
849 Naval Air Squadron was re-formed at RNAS Culdrose, Cornwall, as the airborne early warning unit, flying three-seat AD-4W Skyraiders designated AEW.1 by the Fleet Air Arm. It flew them until December 1960.
