What configuration does the AISA GN autogyro have?
Short answer
The AISA GN was an autogyro with an extensively glazed cabin, a pusher-mounted engine and tricycle landing gear. The tail fin was separate, at the end of two booms mounted on small stub wings. It carried a 220 kW (300 hp) Lycoming IO-540-K1A5 and room for three passengers.
General layout
The AISA GN was an autogyro with an extensively glazed cabin and the engine mounted in pusher configuration, meaning the propeller blew rearward. The same assembly was completed by a tricycle landing gear. A separate tail fin was mounted at the end of two tail booms supported by small wings, known as stub wings. The cabin offered room for three passengers.
The powerplant
The engine was a single air-cooled, six-cylinder opposed Lycoming IO-540-K1A5, delivering 220 kW (300 hp). The prototype, however, had been developed with a 200 hp engine.
Years of development
The aircraft went through an extremely long development process. Its first flight did not take place until 20 July 1982.
