The Seafire, in Korea

800 Naval Air Squadron had the honour of flying the last combat sorties of the Spitfire/Seafire family when the Korean War broke out in June 1950. During the Korean conflict its Seafires flew 245 combat air patrols and 115 strike missions against land and naval targets, without a single loss to enemy fire. Towards the end of that deployment, the squadron had only three serviceable aircraft left. Accumulated fatigue damage to the airframes brought the Seafire's operational life to an end.
