A hundred custom-built mail planes

A hundred mail planes were custom-built for Latécoère's airline, Lignes Aériennes Latécoère. After changing its name to CGEA, the company used, among other aircraft, 106 Breguet 14s on flights over the Sahara desert. Through the 1920s, Lignes Aériennes Latécoère used more than 100 Breguet 14s of various versions on its routes between Toulouse and Dakar (West Africa) and between Natal and Santiago, Chile, in South America.

A very large production run

When production finally ceased, in 1928, the total built across all versions exceeded 7,800 examples; other sources give 8,000 or even 8,370.

Crossings and records

On 26 January 1919, Lieutenant Roget and Captain Coli made a double crossing of the Mediterranean in the type. Roget and Coli later set a new French distance record flying a Breguet 14 from Paris to Kenitra, Morocco: 1,900 km (1,200 mi) in 11 hours and 15 minutes.
