Did you know…
How many P-47s did the USSR receive?
Short answer
Around 195 through the Lend-Lease program, with several lost in transit. Soviet Air Force General Staff archives record 190 P-47s received in 1944 and five in 1945. William Green puts the number sent from the US at 203, with 196 reaching their destination.

Delivery figures
In his book "Warplanes of the Second World War," William Green states that 203 Thunderbolts of the P-47D-22-RE and P-47D-27-RE models were sent from the United States to the USSR, of which 196 reached their recipient. Information from the Soviet Army Air Force General Staff archives does not differ much: 190 P-47 fighters received in 1944 and five in 1945. The Lend-Lease program's count puts the number of P-47s received by the USSR at around 195, with several lost in transit.
Via Alaska and via the Middle East
Three P-47D-10-REs were flown to the Soviet Air Force (VVS) via Alaska in March 1944. In mid-1944, 200 aircraft of the P-47D-22-RE and P-47D-27-RE blocks were ferried to the USSR via the Iraq-Iran route. One of the P-47D-10-REs, serial number 42-75202, had been purchased with funds raised by US senators and carried the name "Knight of Pythias."
What remained at the end of the war
At the end of the conflict, Soviet units still had 188 P-47s.
