The jet Herald
The HP.127 "Jet Herald" was a 1962 study to take the basic Herald design to pure jet power: a stretched fuselage seating up to 70 passengers and two Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans slung in pods under a shortened but still straight wing. The project was never built.
Its smaller sibling was the HP.129 "Mini Herald", a smaller jet-powered derivative with two Speys and 30 seats, also unbuilt. Both show how far Handley Page went, late in the day, looking for a way out for a sound airframe that had reached the market with the wrong powerplant.
