History

Grumman offered an interceptor version of the F-14B to the US Air Force's Improved Manned Interceptor programme, one of the contenders to replace the Convair F-106 Delta Dart in Aerospace Defense Command during the 1970s. The aircraft would have been armed with a 25 mm GAU-7/A caseless cannon and powered by F100 turbofans. The offer came to nothing.
