The Fokker V.6 replaced the rotary engine of the earlier prototypes with a fixed Mercedes D.II inline engine, which required enlarging the airframe: 5.75 m in length, 7.90 m in upper-wing span and 6.60 m in middle-wing span. The increase in weight and wing area penalised manoeuvrability compared with the V.5, and the design did not advance beyond a single prototype.
