  Institutional — Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway, now known as the European Participation Air Forces, signed the agreement to acquire and co-produce the F-16 to replace their F-104G fleets.

• June 7, 1981

  Operation Opera: Israeli strike on the Osirak reactor

  Milestone — Eight Israeli F-16s, escorted by six F-15s, executed the strike against the Iraqi Osirak nuclear reactor.
