Romania becomes the twentieth member of the F-35 global alliance

Romania signed the letter of offer and acceptance for thirty-two F-35As, joining as the programme's twentieth global alliance member. The Romanian parliament had backed the purchase the previous year. The country, a neighbour of Ukraine with a Black Sea coastline, was operating second-hand F-16s acquired from Portugal and Norway.
