The NA-62 prototype, developed from the NA-40B to meet a USAAC requirement, made its first test flight at Inglewood, California, flown by Vance Breese with North American engineer Roy Ferren aboard. The flight revealed a Dutch roll tendency that led to the later gull-wing redesign.
