The first F-35A assembled outside the United States rolls out at Cameri

AL-1, the first Italian F-35A, rolled off the line at the final assembly and check-out facility at Cameri, near Novara. It was the first Lightning II built outside the United States and the effective start-up of a second line, intended to serve other European customers as well. Italy had pushed for the facility as the industrial return on its participation in the programme.
