Belgium selects the F-35A over the Typhoon

October 25, 2018

The Belgian government announced the purchase of thirty-four F-35As to replace its F-16s, rejecting the British Eurofighter Typhoon and ignoring the French Rafale offer, which had been made outside the competition. The decision, worth around four billion euros, strained relations with Paris and was justified on grounds of cost and interoperability with European neighbours already flying the aircraft.
