An Il-96-400 converted into an airborne command post. It gains cabin windows, extra exits and a lower-fuselage door that allows boarding without external stairs.
The conversion started from a freighter airframe and belongs to Project Zveno-3S, which calls for two such aircraft to replace the Il-80-based machines currently serving the Russian Aerospace Forces.
